The Metrosexual is apparently due to hit the big screen this autumn.
Nuttin’ to do with me. And I haven’t seen it. Here’s a trailer which seems amusing enough, though it does suggest that the film may be built around the waxed chestnut that metrosexuals are necessarily ‘in touch with their feminine side’/'a bit pussy’. I might also suggest, tentatively, that the metrosexual lead doesn’t look terribly metrosexual – especially compared to most male film stars. Hell, most cameramen.
But then, this is a romantic comedy, not documentary. And the actors that look really metro probably cost far too much.
Here’s another metrosexual movie, one which seems to take a more muscular view of metrosexuality.

That second video montage features the type of “meathead” metrosexual we would call a “Guido” in Canada (where I’m from) and in the States. According to this blog http://standingonthebox.blogspot.com/ (which I find very amusing) it is an NYC phenomenon which comes primarily from the four boroughs other than Manhattan.
Fascinating. Guido metrosexuality looks rather more fun than yuppie metrosexuality. It also has bigger biceps.
I’m honored you commented back since I really admire your writing. I quoted “Here come the miror men” in a paper I wrote last week for my summer class (pop culture).
